Adapting a New New York City Subway Map?

Vignelli 2008 Subway MapI’ve always been a map lover and collector but working for a design company that specializes in designing maps I find that I now analyze them to the nth degree.

Because of my love for travel I find transit maps the most interesting and found the book, Transit Maps of the World, to be one of my greatest collections of transit maps out there. It includes New York City’s Subway Map, fourth on the list of most used metro systems in the world, and dates back original designs from 1905. (Speaking of the most used metro systems, it’s a good thing we are not #1 like Tokyo.) Read more »

Killer Cover Designs

Parody of Rolling Stone MagazineWhether I’m shopping on 34th Street at lunch or running to catch the bus in Hoboken before work, I am always taking in all the ads around me. So last week while I was waiting to cross the street it’s no surprise I watched every bus go by and saw as many movie posters, vacation offers, and television series ads as I could. One caught my eye, but as the bus whizzed by I couldn’t put my finger on why. It was just an ad for a magazine with the guy from Six Feet Under (Michael C. Hall) on it, no big deal right? Well it wasn’t till later in the week that I started seeing him on what felt like every magazine ad all over the city.
